BRIEF HISTORY OF J.G.S.METALWORK

We started business in May 1983 as an engineering company; where we manufactured various parts for the automotive industry, we also made gates, railings, handrails and security grilles. In 1989 we started to design and manufacture weathervanes in three different sizes which proved very successful. We now concentrate mainly on gates, and gate automation, ornamental iron work, and weathervanes.

My son John who initially served his apprenticeship with us, came back to join the company seven years ago after seeking more experience in other kinds of industries, not only does he look after the manufacturing side of the gates in our workshops, he installs them and if required will automate them, so he is always there to see the job through to the end.

A lot of our work is based on recommendation, we also do work for several builders. Our main aim is to satisfy our customers as we want recommendations to friends and neighbours. We will come out to give quotes without any obligation and will talk the job through. We often take pictures and superimpose the gates and railings to give our clients an idea of what the finished job would look like.
